The congregation was started on the 1st January 1998 in the house of the late Mr. Raymond M. James. Fifteen people were in attendance that very day.
It all started as a prayer group knowing very little about Lutheranism without anyone who knew what real Lutheranism meant. Rev. S.K. Yovonie, who was then a lay leader, was charged with the responsibility of reaching out to people and organizing them. He was assisted by the late Mr. J.J. Lansana.
In less than three months the number grew so large that the church saw that Mr. Raymond M. James' home was no longer spacious enough to accommodate the large increase in number. The church was then re-located to the St. Andrews’ Secondary School (UCC Hall.) Then came the issue of establishing the various organizations in the Church, the Men’s, Women’s, and the Youth Wings for a start.
The following people first served in those capacities: the late Mr. Raymond M. James- Local Church Council Chairman, Mr. Claude Grey- Men’s Leader, the Late Mrs. Gladys T. Musa- Woman’s Leader and Mr. Harry Simbo- Youth Leader.
In 1997 Rev. Dalton Levi John was appointed Evangelist while Rev. S.K. Yovonie was on Pastoral Training. There came a time when the Ministry of Education asked all churches worshiping in school building to leave, so the church was relocated to the WJ and J compound. It was there that we lost the late Mr. Raymond M. James and was replaced by Mr. Eddie Bongah. Mr. Claude Grey who was Men’s Leader left for the United States of America and was replaced by Mr. Eddie Bongah who doubled as Council Chairman and Men’s Leader.
Presently, the church worships at the child friendly Center (NACWAC) – Kortugbuma, Bo. Our present Church Leaders are as follows: Rev. S.K. Yovonie- Pastor in Charge, Mr. Lona a. Yovonie- Evangelist, Men’s Leader Mr. Anthony Blake, Mr. Janet Blake and Youth- Christopher.
The church has an average attendance of forty-five people per service. The membership is about one hundred and fifty (150) with about seventy-five Baptized members.
